Description

Red | Mas La Chevalière | Syrah, Grenache | Languedoc | 2018

This is a quintessential Mediterranean red. The schistous soils here are perfectly suited to these varieties, with the altitude lending a vibrancy that is not commonly found in the Languedoc. It is rich and fruity on the palate with smooth, velvety tannins, and a full body with an elegant, lasting finish.

Red | Maison Les Alexandrins | Grenache, Syrah | Côtes-du-Rhône, Southern Rhône | 2017

Nicolas Jaboulet, formerly of the eponymous winery in Tain, is the man behind Maison Les Alexandrins. This Côtes-du- Rhône is a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah and offers opulent aromas of black and red fruits with a warming cinnamon spice. The combination of Grenache and Syrah gives the wine a beautiful freshness and generous mouthfeel.

Red | Frédéric Berne Beaujolais Lantignié ‘Granit Rose’ | Gamay | Beaujolais | 2018 |  PO  V   VG

Frédéric Berne is a rising star in Beaujolais who strongly believes that Lantignié has the potential to become the eleventh cru of Beaujolais. This wine is a parcel selection from vines planted on granite soil. This results in a perfumed wine with mineral intensity, which shines through on both the nose and palate.

White | Domaine La Croix Gratiot Picpoul de Pinet | Picpoul | Languedoc | 2019 |  PB  PO  V  VG

Made by young winemaker, Anaïs Ricome, this is a standout Picpoul from one of the Languedoc’s coolest Domaines. The Picpoul grows close to the Mediterranean sea, meaning cool maritime breezes moderate the climate, making it ideal for growing this white grape variety. This wine is bursting with zesty fruit, bright refreshing acidity with notes pear and spice on the finish.

White | Via Caritatis ‘Vox Domini’ Ventoux Blanc | Roussanne, Clairette, Grenache Blanc | Ventoux, Southern Rhône | 2019 |  V  VG

United by a wish to revive their region’s winemaking history and support local winemakers, the monks of the Abbey Sainte-Madeleine du Barroux and the local cooperative, Beaumont de Ventoux, joined forces in 2015 to create a range of wines from their combined 30 hectares of vineyards. The Vox Blanc has delicate aromas of honeysuckle coupled with notes of white stone fruits. On the palate, it has a lovely texture from the lees ageing, with notes of honey and citrus fruit on the finish.

White | Domaine Perraud Mâcon-Villages | Chardonnay | Mâconnais, Burgundy | 2018 |  V  VG

Domaine Perraud is a fine example of a young vigneron striking out on his own with the family’s vineyards to create what will soon be one of the Mâconnais’ most respected domaines. This Mâcon-Villages is bright lemon yellow in colour with fragrant white flowers and stone fruit aromas on the nose. Medium to full bodied, with lively citrus acidity and flavours of melon, white peach and a hint of pineapple, this wine has a finish which is refreshing and long.
