Description

Red | Château Macquin Saint-Georges-Saint-Émilion | Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon | Bordeaux | 2016 |  V  VG

Château Macquin is one of only two producers in this tiny satellite appellation of Saint-Émilion. The vineyards enjoy one of the best elevations on the right bank. The south-facing vines range from 15 – 60 years old and produce a wine with an alluring nose with ripe red cherry, graphite and fine-grained tannins with a fresh acidity.

Red | Jean-Claude Boisset ‘Les Ursulines’ | Pinot Noir | Burgundy | 2018 |  V  VG

Winemaker Grégory Patriat, previously of Domaine Leroy is widely regarded as one of the best viticulturalists and winemakers of his generation in Burgundy. Grégory sources the fruit for this wine from old vines, mostly from the Côte de Nuits. It is bright ruby-red in colour with intense red fruit aromas of wild strawberry and hints of cinnamon and sweet spice, from the eight months it spent in lightly toasted French oak barrels.

Red | La Croix de Saint Jean Minervois ‘Lo Mainatge’ | Syrah, Grenache | Minervois, Languedoc | 2016

Meaning ‘the child’ in Occitan, ‘Lo Mainatge’ refers to the three generations who are still involved in the domaine today. A blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah sourced from schist, limestone and clay soils, this wine is characterised by concentrated dark berry fruit flavours, which are well-balanced with refreshing acidity and round, supple tannins.

White | Jean-Claude Boisset Bourgogne Chardonnay ‘Les Ursulines’ | Chardonnay | Burgundy | 2018

This Chardonnay comes from parcels located in the Côte de Beaune, which gives a richness and structure seldom found in Bourgogne Blanc. The wine was fermented and aged in French oak barrels for 14 months, adding great complexity to the finished wine.

White | Domaine Cauhapé ‘Chant des Vignes’ Jurançon Sec | Gros Manseng, Camaralet | Jurançon | 2018 |  PB  PO

From one of the most highly regarded domaines in the Jurançon who pioneered the production of dry white wines in the region, the ‘Chant des Vignes’ is a blend of Gros Manseng and the indigenous Camaralet. It displays a perfumed nose and layers of honey, blossom and ripe stone fruit balanced by zesty acidity.

White | Domaine de Bel Air Pouilly Fumé | Sauvignon Blanc | Loire Valley | 2018 |  V  VG

The Mauroy family has 14 hectares of Pouilly Fumé vineyards, located on the south-facing slopes of Pouilly-sur-Loire and Saint-Andelain, the village originally made famous by Didier Dagueneau. The Sauvignon Blanc grows in very close proximity to the river Loire which encourages greater ripeness and flavour development. Aromatic and generous on the palate with citrus, flint and a subtle salinity, this is a serious Sauvignon Blanc.
