But first, Champagne …

Come and celebrate Valentine’s Day with a superb, rarely seen flight of three 50ml tastings of stunning Champagne from Pol Roger, only at Salut Wines.

We’ll have a special Valentine’s Day platter to go with the flight and we’re staying open until 11pm instead of the usual Tuesday 6.30pm close.

The Wines:

First is the Pol Roger Brut 2006, described by Jancis Robinson as “exuberant, complex … broad and quite rich … pretty exciting stuff”.

Next up is the Blanc de Blanc 2008, well-balanced, full-bodied and exhilaratingly fresh and zesty with outstanding complexity.

And finally there’s a fantastic opportunity to try a legend of a wine – Pol Roger’s Winston Churchill 2004. Elegant, powerful and refined, we’ve never seen this served by the glass.

The flight of three is only £30. Give us a call or visit to book a table.

If you prefer your Champagne in the bath, all day on the 14th Feb we’re offering 10% off all Champagnes up to £100.

We also have the perfect gift for Champagne lovers, On the 23rd Feb, come and taste through 6 Henriot Champagnes with our very own Sam who will be handing out a fair dosage of facts and unravelling the riddles of the Champagne region.

We have long been proud to serve the Henriot Brut Souverain as our house Champagne, indeed it is now served onboard British Airways in Club World.

At the tasting it will be joined by:

Blanc de Blancs NV
Rosé NV
Brut Millésimé 2006 Vintage
Rosé Millésimé 2005 Vintage
Demi-Sec NV

The house of Henriot is one of the very few independent, family owned and run producers of Champagne and is more than two centuries old. Traditions and techniques have been passed down through eight generations, and together these 6 wines show the full breadth of their experience and artistry.

Tickets are available here for £30, which includes food.

Another MCR 1st – Prestige Cuvées by the glass & other good stuff…

We’ve got some top tastings lined up for you – a free Franciacorta tasting, 3 prestige cuvées by the glass and the divine 50&50 by Avignonesi & Campannelle in our Enomatics.

This Friday 22nd July we have 3 styles of Franciacorta for you to try for free, a Saten, a brut and a rosé. Franciacorta is the lesser known fizz to come from Italy, unjustly so! It is made in the same way as Champagne, but with less acidity and it has longer ageing requirements, resulting in a beautifully soft and elegant fizz. Once you’ve tried it you’ll never look back.

We are pretty sure this has never been seen in Manchester before. On the weekend of the 29th July, a rare chance to try three prestige cuvées by the glass. Krug, Belle Époque Rosé & Dom Perignon. You’ll be able to try 50ml of each to compare, or indulge in a full glass. The Krug will be £11 for 50ml and £27.50 for a 125ml glass, Belle Époque Rosé will be £12.00 for 50ml and £30 for a 125ml glass, and the Dom Perignon will be £10.50 for 50ml and £26.50 for a 125ml glass.

Also on the 29th July for Fine Wine Friday it’s over to Tuscany. We’re putting the divine 50&50 by Avignonesi & Campannelle in our machines. You will not find this wine anywhere else in the city centre. A deep, dark ruby colour the 2010 vintage is elegant & refined, with fresh notes of red and black berries, backed up by sweet spices and an underlying, balsamic touch. This wine is full-bodied and silky soft, with an elegant, fruity core and a long lingering, pleasantly dry finish.

Yum! See you there.
